Welcome to Day 2 of Clean Heart July Solemn Assembly of Prayer

Day 2 Devotion - THE CLEAN HEART -

WALKING IN TRUE REPENTANCE &
LOYALTY

The True Goal of Repentance and the Clean Heart

I believe we have fallen short in the area of repentance towards the clean heart, because we have misplaced the goals and purpose of repentance. The Goal of Repentance is not that our sins may be forgiven so that we could be ready to go to heaven.  That’s not the goal of repentance!

The first goal of repentance has to do with our sins being blotted out. However if we don’t clarify, and in some cases, redefine sin we will continue to misunderstand repentance.

The ultimate goal of repentance can be ascertained through an understanding of the true definition of sin.

What is the definition of sin? It is the Greek word that means; to miss the mark, or not to share in the prize. We have thought that sin was an act and actually sin is a place. We have thought sin was a verb and actually sin is a noun - (person, place, or thing). Sin is a state of falling short of the Glory of God. The scripture says, we’ve all sinned and come short of the Glory of God. What is the Glory of God?

John 1:14, and the word was made flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His Glory as the glory of the only begotten of the father, full of grace and truth.

The Glory of God is Jesus. If we’ve all sinned and come short of the glory of God, which is Jesus, sin is the state of not being like Jesus.

Anything short of Jesus Christ is missing the mark. The mark we should be striving for is Jesus. When we hit the mark of Jesus we will not struggle with the fruit of sin, which are the works of the flesh.

Philippians 3:14 says, I press towards to mark of the prize of the high calling of God which is in - CHRIST JESUS.

Our Sins Must Be Blotted Out Not Just Forgiven

Therefore, the goal of repentance is that our sins may be blotted out, and that we would become like Jesus. All of us have sinned and fallen short of the mark of Jesus. Because of Adam’s rebellion against God we all are born short of who we were created to be like – Jesus Christ. Repentance causes you to make a decision to turn from Adam and come back to Jesus.

The goal of repentance is not the forgiveness of sins to soothe your conscious, to cause you to feel good about yourself. Neither is repentance a onetime act you do when you commit a sinful act.

Repentance is the process of becoming like Christ through the renewal of the mind in the word of God, and it (Repentance) is not complete until we become like him – Repent Ye and be converted…..And he shall send Jesus.....Acts 3:19

The destiny of a repentant heart is the heart of God. We have settled in the Church for being like everybody else except Jesus. We have settled for being like our latest, greatest, favorite preacher.

We have settled for being like our Bishops. We have even settled for heaven. Heaven is only heaven, because Jesus is there. When we truly repent in the Church 3 things will be begin to take place culminating in the life of Christ being restored to humanity.
